Patrick Gets a Kitten Kutten

So I decided that Patrick the fat cat needed to get a little more punk rock. He's an unruly teenager as it is, and he's desperately handsome. He just needed that extra edge. Believe it or not, he hated every second of it. He ran around the house backwards, which was hysterical, until he settled on the roomie's bed and posed perfectly for about ten minutes. Then we relieved him of the horrors of the Kitten Kutten.

Costuming history moment: A kutten is a cut off denim jacket, usually worn by punk rockers, metal heads, or bicycle gangs - by whom they are known as "colors." The style developed in different places at different times, but it grew out of the unrest of the 1970s. Biker gangs like the Hell's Angels were gaining social awareness. London punkers were thrashing their clothes and shopping at Vivien Westwood's SEX. By the early 1980s, the punk scene had solidified itself in American culture. Patch vests had become a staple of the "look" in both the punk and metal scenes and were worn with pride. Often decorated with patches from local bands, hand-placed studs, and painted anarchy signs, kuttens signaled to others who you were and where you came from.
